Plan the Final Shade
Before professional whitening, we make sure the teeth and gums are suitable and identify existing fillings, bonding, crowns or veneers whose shade will not change. Where bonding or porcelain will follow, whitening is normally completed first so those restorations can be matched to the brighter natural teeth.
Scan, Desensitise & Whiten
We take a precise 3D scan for your custom trays, complete our in-practice desensitising stage and guide you through the tailored Enlighten® at-home whitening course.
Review Together
We review the final shade with you and, where whitening forms part of a wider smile plan, use that result as the new baseline for the next stage of treatment.
Teeth whitening changes the internal shade of natural teeth, but surface staining can still build up. Excellent brushing, interdental cleaning and professional hygiene help keep the smile looking fresh.
Your bespoke trays can be retained for future top-ups. We will explain when a top-up is appropriate and how to use the products safely rather than whitening continuously.
If you later have bonding, veneers or other restorations, remember that those materials do not whiten in the same way as natural teeth, so future shade changes need to be considered carefully.

Can I eat what I like during treatment?
Enlighten® does not require the traditional restrictive white diet, so you can continue enjoying your normal foods and drinks while following the instructions provided.

Will I need to repeat it?
Usually not from the beginning. Most patients maintain the result with occasional top-ups using their existing trays, following the guidance we give you.

We guarantee a VITA B1 bleach shade, achieved gently over a series of weeks for the best, most comfortable results. The process begins with an in-practice desensitising treatment, followed by a gradual, three-week at-home whitening programme. This ensures a comfortable, effective experience, leaving you with your desired shade, all while protecting the health of your teeth.
A final review in practice ensures you’re happy with your outcome, and you’ll leave with a sustainable maintenance regime for long-term results. Our premium whitening service includes:
Keeping your Enlighten® smile bright should feel simple. Our Enlighten® Whitening Maintenance pack is designed for existing whitening patients who already have well-fitting trays and would like to refresh their result safely at home.
Your maintenance gel is supplied through The Dental Barns following a recent dental examination, ensuring your teeth and gums remain healthy and suitable for whitening.
You can choose from the current Enlighten® EVO4 gel options — 10% Carbamide Peroxide, 16% Carbamide Peroxide or 6% Hydrogen Peroxide — with your dentist confirming the most appropriate option and wear regime for you.
Every syringe is kept refrigerated at The Dental Barns until collection and supplied with a cool pack to help maintain the cold chain on the journey home. We also include Enlighten® aftercare products to help minimise sensitivity and keep your smile looking fresh between top-ups.
A dental examination within the previous 6 months is required before whitening gel can be supplied.

Yes, we kindly ask for a 50% deposit when booking treatments. This allows us to prepare materials in advance and dedicate the appropriate time and space within the practice just for you.
We completely understand that life happens, and sometimes plans need to change. If you’re unwell or something unexpected comes up, just let us know as soon as you can. We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice where possible, as this time is reserved exclusively for you. If less notice is given, we may not be able to refund your deposit—but we’ll always do our best to be fair.
We’ll always be clear about how much time to set aside. Our appointments are carefully planned with a little more time than usual, so we can go at your pace. We simply ask that you arrive 5–10 minutes before your scheduled time to settle in.
